文竹性喜温暖湿润和半阴通风的环境，冬季应避免冷风和霜冻。文竹适宜在排水良好、富含有机质的砂质壤土中生长，盆栽时可用7份园土、1份河沙、1份腐粪和1份饼渣作培养土。文竹忌 direct full sunlight and drought. In the summer，应放在北窗附近，避免 strong sunlight. In the autumn and winter， move it to indoor places where there is light， and avoid cold wind and frosts. It likes to grow in moist sandy loam with rich organic matter in well-drained soil， avoid water accumulation.文竹生长适宜温度15~25℃，冬季棚室温度不能低于5℃，若室温在零度以下，就会冻死。文竹喜湿，盆栽文竹浇水要适当较多而均匀，不能让盆土过干，否则极易引起“枯尖”现象，生长季节保持盆土湿润，冬季休眠期要控制浇水，保持盆土不干即可。盛夏季节除注意避免 strong sunlight外，还须给文竹遮去50％的阳光。在天气干燥时须经常向文竹周围喷水，以提高空气湿度。文竹忌烟害，放在烟雾较大处容易“焦边”，影响观赏价值。
